What difference can I make by fundraising?
A really, really big one! Thanks to the support of legendary fundraisers, in 2020 alone Variety – the Children’s Charity impacted the lives of 81,244 kids across Australia. We’d love your help in bringing smiles to kids who are having a really tough time. So, please consider getting involved with the fundraising element of the Variety Kids Challenge if you can! You can read more about how we help kids on our website at www.variety.org.au/vic/.
How does fundraising in the Variety Kids Challenge work?
When the challenge is open and you haved registered, we’ll guide you through creating a profile. (Don’t worry, it’s SUPER easy!) Once you’re all set up, let your close friends and family know what you’re up to and ask them to make the first donations.
Once you’ve got a few donations in, share your profile far and wide! Keep them up to date with how your creations are coming together too, it might be a good boost for people to donate to your page.
We’ve got LOADS of prizes in store for those who choose to fundraise too, so be sure to share your page and get it out there.
Why use an online fundraising page, can’t my friends and family give me cash?
When your friends and family donate through your fundraising page, Variety receives the money automatically, and they receive their tax-deductible receipt straight away. If they prefer to give cash, you can make a payment of the same amount to your online fundraising page using your credit or debit card. Please be careful with money handling. Keep your distance from others and always make sure to wash your hands before and after touching cash. If it’s a large amount of money that you’ve raised in cash, send us an email or give us a call on 03 8698 3900 about other options.
I've never fundraised before, how do I start?
There are lots of ways to fundraise – and something to suit everybody, even if it’s your first time! You could start small by setting up a fundraising page and only share it with close family and friends, or you may want to go a bit bigger and share it with all your friends on social media.
And we’re here to help! If you have questions, ideas, or need anything – send us an email to [email protected], give us a call 03 8698 3900.
Where will the money go?
Variety – the Children’s Charity believe all kids deserve a fair go. So, we help kids who are sick, disadvantaged and have additional needs by delivering support in four key ways.
We grant a range of equipment – such as wheelchairs or all-abilities playgrounds - to provide practical help to kids, schools and organisations in need. We run programs to educate & empower kids in need. We give scholarships to encourage the talents of kids living with disadvantage or disability. We hold special events to bring joy & engage kids in need and their families.
Who can win prizes in the Variety Kids Challenge?
Everyone is welcome to participate in the Variety Kids Challenge, however to win a prize you must be aged 16 or younger at the time of the prize draw.
