Team 481 WET – Variety Bash 2026

Variety Bash 2026 Wild Wild West

Team 481 WET is John and Janice, travelling in a much-loved 1995 Toyota Land Cruiser with a story of friendship, community, and remembrance.

The vehicle originally belonged to Janice’s late partner Bruce, a former policeman who grew up in the Pilbara region of WA. Bruce owned the old LandCruiser for many years after it began life working in the mining areas of the north-west.

Bruce was also a good friend and fellow Rotarian, and after his passing in 2025, the vehicle was transferred to Janice. Rather than letting the old Cruiser quietly retire, we decided to give it a new purpose — raising funds for children in need through Variety Bash.

The team name “481 WET” comes from the vehicle’s original number plate, which proudly remains with the ute today.

As part of our journey west, we also hope to take some of Bruce’s ashes home to the Pilbara, returning him to the country that helped shape his life.

We’re proud to be part of the Bash community and grateful for every donation and word of encouragement along the way. Every kilometre travelled helps support Australian children and families doing it tough.

We're Driving Change for Kids in Need

We're drving change for kids in need on the Variety Bash - the original outback motoring adventure built on mateship, challenge and making a real difference.

Our crew will be hitting the road in a 25+ year-old themed car, taking on remote tracks and rough roads across regional Australia - all to raise funds for kids who need support.

This isn’t just a road trip - it’s a chance to give back. Along the way, we’ll stop into schools and small towns to deliver grants and equipment directly to the families who need it most. You get to see exactly where your fundraising goes - and the impact it makes.
