I'm taking part in the Variety Bash to help kids in need
G’day! We are so excited to be taking part in the August 2020 Variety Bash – travelling all the way to Great Keppel Island, the long way round!
The Variety Bash is a once in a lifetime chance to experience remote and regional parts of Australia in outrageously themed classic cars, all in support of Variety – the Children’s Charity.
Throughout the event, we’ll be visiting local towns, stopping into schools and organisations to help kids who are sick, disadvantaged or have special needs through the provision of educational, health and mobility equipment. And the giving doesn’t stop there! Variety continue to support children, families and communities throughout the year with funds raised from the Variety Bash.
We will be travelling in some sort of Ford, because we tend to collect them! We are currently looking for a suitable Ford to decorate in a crazy way. We are looking forward to getting out and meeting and supporting some kids in outback areas. By 2020 we are hoping the drought/fires in Australia has ended and we can also show our support to these kids and their families.
Help us give Aussie kids a fair go – donate today!
Goal! Ten donations received for kids in need!
$500 will supply an iPad for a non-verbal child
$1,000 will supply a specialised trampoline for children with sensory needs
$3,000 buys a portable scooter for a child with limited mobility
Oh wow $10,000 for kids in need. You are champs!!
Covid 19 stuffed everything this year!We are disappointed to let our supporters know that the 2020 Variety Bash has been postponed due to the Coronavirus. With the uncertain times and restrictions with travel, numbers of people in groups etc. Variety Victoria had no choice but to postpone the Great Keppel Event until 2021. Russell and I have decided to keep working on the car, keep raising money and transfer the funds already donated to the 2021 Event. The new event will run in August next year to the same destination. We are now on the countdown to August 2021.
XD getting some TLC
JAM Automotive have the motor out for some extra special TLC, getting it sorted so we dont break down in the middle of no where. Bendigo Tyre Centre had it last week and were putting on the fuel line and under body protection.
Donations have been coming in and adding up. We have made our goal post wider because we made it to $10000, so we are now looking at $15000.
Once the car has been taken care of we will get stickers sorted, fit bull bars and roof racks, flags and other stuff to make it look like a Bash car.
Making the goal post wider.
We are very happy to say we have made it to our goal of $10000 so we are going to make the goal post wider and try for $15000.
We have the car booked into JAM Automotive to get some TLC and make sure that we make it all the way on our journey.
Once we get the car back we'll get the stickers underway and car decorated.
We are on the lookout for a bull bar and roof rack if anyone has one lying around. Bits and pieces for a 30 year old car are tricky to find.Share
Donations starting to come in.....
We are very grateful to our generous people who have added to our donation list. We are well on the way to our goal of $10000
We have supported many of these businesses over the years through our family farm.
Bendigo Tyre Centre, Midland Irrigation
Loddon Campaspe Fertiliser, Brian Jenning Accounting, Adroit Insurnace
Gilmac and Tanloden Hay, Harrison 4WD, Oil Warehouse
Along with some personal donations.
The car is booked in to get some work done, so we will soon see what a 30 year old car needs to get it up and going!
The XD has arrived!
This week we have collected the car. A sweet orange XD Falcon! WE are beginning to make plans and alteration to the car to make sure we make it all the way to Great Keppel Island in August.
Today we also secured some very generous sponsors. Midland Irrigation Bendigo, Bendigo Tyre Centre and Tanloden Hay Raywood. We thank them very much for their support in such a worthy cause.
Stay tuned for car updates as it comes together.
