We’ll be rolling out bright and early from Melbourne, to make our way to Charlton! Around three hours from Melbourne’s CBD, Charlton is a lovely rural town in the valley fo the Avoca River. We’ll be stopping for a delicioius lunch enjoying the river's natural beauty and heritage buildings, before making our way to Swan Hill for the evening.
Day 2 begins with breakfast in Swan Hill before we head southeast, with sights set on Great Western. As the name suggests, you’ll find Great Western in Victoria’s west, halfway between Ararat and Stawell. The region is home to some of Australia’s best wineries, so be sure to pick up a bottle of something special to remember the journey when you return home. After our lunch stop, we’ll drive to Port Fairy, via the Great Ocean Road. In Port Fairy you’ll find no shortage or sights to behold and coastal attractions to enjoy.
After breakfast in Port Fairy, we head towards Lorne for lunch to wrap up our Rally. We encourage you to take a moment to see all this pretty seaside escape has to offer. Whether you opt for an afternoon on the beach, a visit to Erskine Falls or even stay the night to extend the journey, there’s lots to indulge and enjoy in Lorne. After Lorne, we’ll be headed home to unpack the car and count down the days until our next adventure.
Traditional owners of the land have been identified in accordance with the AIATSIS Map of Indigenous Australia. Variety – the Children’s Charity acknowledges the Traditional Owners and custodians of Country throughout Australia and their continuing connection to land, waters and community. We pay our respect to them and their Elders past, present and emerging.
