This long-running event sees a convoy of new and seasoned 4WD enthusiasts come together to raise funds for kids in need on the adventure of a lifetime.

Where It All Began

The Variety 4WD Adventure began in 1997 with an inaugural trip that covered over 1,300 kilometres and finished in Mt Buller. Since that first event, we’ve travelled over 65,000kms!

Each year the event has grown, enticing more 4WD enthusiasts and raising much needed funds for Variety – the Children’s Charity.

We’ve really been everywhere! Mt. Buller, Lakes Entrance, Longreach, Clare, Ararat, Tanunda, Port Arthur, Mildura, Beechworth, Deniliquin, Yarrawonga, Orbost, Nhill, Lyndhurst, Wilpena Pound…and we still have so much more of this amazing country left to explore.

How You Make a Difference

Variety – the Children’s Charity is a national not-for-profit organisation committed to empowering Australian children who are sick, disadvantaged or have special needs to reach their full potential and achieve their dreams.

Variety Australia delivers over $1 million in individual and organisational equipment grants every month, filling the gaps often left by the government and other organisations.

Variety is often a family’s last resort to secure equipment vital to their child’s wellbeing. You can meet some of the kids we assist on the Variety 4WD Adventure as we deliver en-route grants to those who need it most.

Your fundraising efforts have a direct impact on Victorian children living with disabilities, illnesses, or experiencing disadvantage. Your contributions provide life-changing equipment and programs that make a world of difference.

Each year Variety - the Children's Charity extends support to numerous families and organisations. Through grants, we provide essential equipment like wheelchairs and all-abilities playgrounds, addressing practical needs of kids, schools, and organisations in need. Our programs empower and educate children who are often overlooked, while scholarships encourage the talents of those living with disadvantage or disability. Lastly, we organise joyous kids' events that illuminate the lives of children in need and their families.

These grants are not just about equipment; they are about offering a lifeline and making dreams possible.

Entry Costs & Fundraising

We have announced an early bird entry fee of $495, so jump on board by 31 December 2023 to secure this offer!

In addition to the entry fee which is normally $660 per car, there is a provisions cost ($TBA) which covers meals, entertainment, fun stops, name badge, event commemorative gift and other event related expenses.  This amount is generally around $1000.

Minimum fundraising goal is $3,000 per car.  As this is a key fundraising event for Variety Victoria, we encourage every car to exceed their fundraising target so that we can deliver additional assistance to kids in our communities. Entrants are responsible for booking their own accommodation for each night, based on budget and preference. An accommodation guide will be provided to each entrant which details the closest accommodation to each dinner venue. Options such as Airbnb and other local accommodation are also available - we recommend getting in early!
