Barmera to Bendleby Ranges SA

We leave Barmera, embarking on a scenic drive towards Bendleby Ranges Station, our home for the next two nights. Along the way, you'll experience a dynamic mix of on-road and off-road driving. A lunch stop provides a chance to refuel and explore charming remote towns, adding a touch of local flavour to your journey. Upon arrival at Bendleby Ranges Station, you'll be warmly welcomed by the Redpath family. Take time to unwind in the serene environment, surrounded by stunning landscapes, and prepare for the exciting adventures that lie ahead. The family's hospitality ensures a comfortable and memorable stay, making you feel truly at home in this picturesque outback setting.

Day 2 • Friday 16 May 2025
Bendleby Ranges SA

Today is all about adventure! We kick off with a group drive to a scenic morning tea spot. Participants can then choose between two thrilling 4WD options: the Adventure route, which is challenging yet manageable, or the Challenge route, offering the most extreme 4WD experience. Bendleby Ranges’ rugged landscapes and diverse terrain provide the perfect playground for off-road enthusiasts.  In the evening, gather around the campfire to share stories, build friendships, and enjoy the serene night sky.

Bendleby Ranges to Mount Freeling SA

Driving north, we make our way to Mt Freeling - a working sheep property which is not on the tourist maps. This leg offers a scenic drive with a lunch stop at an historic town, where you can enjoy local delicacies and explore its heritage. Upon arrival at Mount Freeling Station, immerse yourself in the unique charm of the outback. This exclusive two nights will be memorable for the driving and the vast range of landscapes on this station.

Mount Freeling SA

Experience the thrill of navigating the rugged terrain of Mount Freeling, renowned for its challenging 4WD tracks and untouched wilderness. After a hearty breakfast, embark on an adventurous route through rocky paths and steep inclines, testing your skills and vehicle limits.

Pause at scenic spots to enjoy expansive desert views and unique geological formations, concluding with a sunset watch that paints the landscape in stunning colours. End the day with a communal dinner  celebrating the day's adventures and achievements.

Day 6 • Tuesday 20 May 2025
Mount Freeling to Willow Springs SA

Begin your day with a visit to Leigh Creek, a town rich in history and character. From there, we embark on a 4WD adventure through the stunning landscapes of Ikara (Wilpena Pound), a natural amphitheatre renowned for its breathtaking beauty.

This region is steeped in Aboriginal heritage - according to tradition, Ikara was formed by two serpents entwined in a fierce battle, creating the majestic and rugged terrain we see today. As we navigate the awe-inspiring scenery, we marvel at its natural splendour and gain a deeper appreciation for its cultural and spiritual importance.

Day 7 • Wednesday 21 May 2025
Willow Springs SA

Enjoy a hearty breakfast together before we set off to experience the excitement of 4WD’ing on Willow Springs' exclusive private tracks. These tracks offer the perfect blend of adventure and heritage, providing an unforgettable journey through stunning landscapes. As we navigate the challenging terrains, you'll feel the rush of the off-road experience while appreciating the rich history of this historic homestead.

Along the way, take in the scenery and immerse yourself in the unique atmosphere that only Willow Springs can offer. With each track we travel, the spirit of adventure and the area's storied past come alive, making this a truly memorable part of our trip.

Willow Springs to Clare SA

As our 4WD adventure winds its way from Willow Springs to Clare, S.A., we enter a region renowned for its natural beauty and rich history. It is indulgence time. Home to around 50 separate wineries, Clare is simply stunning, with rolling vineyards, charming cellar doors, and gourmet food experiences. We spend the night in this idyllic location, soaking in the serene ambiance and relishing the opportunity to sample some of the finest wines Australia has to offer. The combination of picturesque landscapes, exceptional hospitality, and world-class wines makes Clare an unforgettable highlight of our journey.

Clare to Robe SA

Begin your day with a sumptuous breakfast at Mr. Mick Kitchen and Cellar Door, owned by a long-time supporter of Variety. Afterward, we set off on our journey to Robe, South Australia's favorite seaside town. The drive takes us through diverse landscapes, from lush vineyards to scenic coastal roads. In Robe, expect great food, stunning sights, and some exhilarating beach driving. This charming town offers a perfect blend of relaxation and adventure, making it an ideal destination for our 4WD expedition. Enjoy fresh seafood, explore the historic streets, and take in the breathtaking ocean views as we unwind in this delightful seaside escape.

Robe SA

Experience the thrill of beach driving in the picturesque coastal town of Robe on our final day of our 4WD adventure. Navigate your vehicle along the pristine sandy shores, with the sound of waves crashing beside you and the fresh sea breeze in your hair. Robe offers not only exhilarating beach driving but also a variety of activities to enhance your adventure. Explore the charming historic town, visit the iconic Obelisk, and indulge in local seafood at seaside eateries.
