Day 1 • Tuesday 28 May 2024

Heywod VIC - Bordertown SA

Today kicks off our 11-day adventure, and we ease in with a drive from Heywood through Western Victoria to Bordertown in South Australia. Don't forget to turn your clocks back!

Day 2 • Wednesday 29 May 2024

Bordertown SA - Morgan SA
Bindjali Country - Ngargad Country - Meru Country

Today we’ll be following the Murray River to Morgan, which is known as the gateway to the Flinders Ranges. Morgan boasts an extremely rich past that is sure to excite any budding explorer - from the historic port and museum that bring stories of the paddle steam era to life, to the Morgan Historic Walk and Disappearance of Henry Bryan Trail.

Morgan SA - Arkaroola SA

It’s a big drive and change of scenery today as we head to Arkaroola in Northern Flinders Ranges. Arkaroola is the common name for Arkaroola Wilderness Sanctuary, a wildlife sanctuary was established by
geologist Reg Sprigg in 1968 after he purchased the pastoral lease. He purchased the 610 square kilometres pastoral lease (part of which is now held as freehold) and began the conversion to a wildlife sanctuary. In 1979 he was a trustee of the World Wildlife Fund due to his work in the protection of the yellow-footed rock-wallaby.  

Day 4 • Friday 31 May

Arkaroola SA

Get ready for a full day of 4WDing! There are a number of self-drive options to choose from, ranging in difficulty from beginner to advanced. 

The Echo Camp Backtrack self-drive track leads through some wonderful country and then over the hills (rough) and down onto the plains east of the Flinders Ranges. This joins another track back to Arkaroola via Claude's Pass, Stubb's Waterhole, Bararranna Gorge (an area where yellow-footed rock wallabies are commonly found) and Welcome Pound.

Arkaroola SA - Leigh Creek SA

Day 5 sees the convoy head to Leigh Creek the best way we can… offroad of course!

 

Day 6 • Sunday 2 June 2024

Leigh Creek SA - Willow Springs Station

Willow Springs Station, Flinders Ranges, is a typical 70,000-acre operating sheep and cattle station since the 1860s, that offers visitors a choice of great outback activities. Self-guided 4WD tours, marked walking trails, hill climbing, exploring natural springs or viewing the Aboriginal rock etchings. When night falls, take a moment to take in the quiet and look up at the stars as they light up the night sky.

Day 7 • Monday 3 June 2024

Willow Springs Station SA

Adnyamathanha Country

Our second full day of 4WDing! Skytrek is situated on Willow Springs Station and is one of the great 4WD tracks of the Flinders Ranges in South Australia. It is an adventurous full day 4WD track that offers a variety of driving conditions from River Red Gum lined creek beds to open ridge tops with magnificent views.

Day 9 • Wednesday 5 June

Bendleby Ranges SA

Ngadjuri Country

With over 200km of 4WD tracks ranging from mild to wild, Bendleby Ranges offers an incredible four-wheel driving experience for both novices and experts. Exhilarating drives can take you over the rugged Bendleby and Hungry Ranges and deep into the mountains for some truly majestic scenery.? 

Seekers of the adrenalin-pumping experience will find the challenging Billy Goat Ridge and Pat’s Peak tracks a “must do” experience. With incredible views from the hilltops, the terrain varies from hills to plains with excellent views towards Lake Frome & Wilpena Pound. These are some of the best Flinders Ranges 4WD tracks.

Bendleby Ranges SA to Renmark SA

Ngadjuri Country

Enjoy a day to yourself, or with your new friends as you make your way to Renmark for the final night dinner tomorrow.

Day 11 • Friday 7 June

Renmark SA

Meru Country

Enjoy a day to yourself in Renmark. At night, join us for dinner as we celebrate an amazing 11 days on the 4WD Adventure.
