CYCLING FOR CHILDREN IN NEED; is Proudly Fundraising for Variety - The Children's Charity Bikes for Kids so all kids program

Cycling for Children in Need is proudly Fundraising for Variety Bikes for Kids so all kids can have the joy of this memory. Now in its 2nd year last year we raised $6,630.00 to help Variety - The Children's Charity. Please help reach our goal of $10,000.00 in 2025!
Do you remember your first bike?
That first ride. The wobble. The wind in your hair.
The thrill of freedom. The pride of taking off - all by yourself.
For many of us, that first bike ride is an unforgettable moment.
But for children experiencing disadvantage, it’s a moment they may never have - unless someone like you steps in and helps.
Our dedicated team of cyclists have signed up for the Bikes for Kids to provide a child in need their very first bike through the Variety Bikes for Kids program!
Q: How are we doing this, you ask?
We will be riding from Sydney’s northern suburbs to Berry on the NSW South Coast a distance of 180km in one day a challenge in itself, this October the 11th 2025.
Q: Why are we doing this ride?
Cycling For Children in Need is a social group of amateur cyclists committed to raising funds and awareness for Children in Need on behalf of Variety - The Children's Charity. For kids experiencing physical, mental, or financial disadvantage, the joy of receiving their first bike can seem like a distant dream. You can help provide a child with all the joy, fun with friends and fitness that owning a bike can bring, plus the ability that allows them to connect and join in with others, cannot be underestimated. Twenty-two years since the Variety Bikes for Kids program began, we want to celebrate by providing a record number of bikes for kids thanks to the kindness of people like you. We all remember the memories of our very first bike - our first few wobbly pedals on training wheels, to the feeling of freedom and independence as we took our first solo ride! Every child deserves this memory!
One of many stories from Variety Bike for Kids program - Max's Story
Let me tell you about Wilson and his sister, Rita
Wilson is 7 - full of dreams, joy, and imagination. His little sister Rita is 5, always smiling and full of wonder. She’s non-verbal and uses sign language to communicate. Both kids are autistic, and that sometimes makes it harder to connect with other children.
Their parents are doing everything they can, but with the rising cost of living, even the basics are hard to afford. Two bikes are simply out of reach.
During the last school holidays, Wilson and Rita stayed indoors, watching other kids ride past their house - unable to join in.
But thanks to kind-hearted people like you, we were able to say yes - and their dream came true.
Variety – the Children’s Charity presented brand-new bikes, helmets, and locks just in time for the holidays.
Wilson whispered, “I love my training wheels,” as he rang his bell over and over, beaming with excitement. Rita signed “thank you,” quietly overjoyed. Their dad wept as he watched them ride.
A brand-new quality bike, helmet and lock to support one child costs $280, and a lot more for special needs style bike for those who cannot ride a normal bike. THIS IS WHY WE DO IT!
