I'm Driving Change for Kids in Need on the Variety Bash as Part of Team Heidi and The Cowboys

SHARE MY PAGE

Yeehah! I'm herding up 'Moo-lah' for Variety and heading off on the Bash this August!

My cowboy mates Paul and Lou are I hopping aboard our Bovine Bandit 'Heidi', a refurbished 1978 ZH Ford Fairlane 500, and rolling her out on her maiden run straight up the 'Hey Diddle Diddle' of Australia to make a difference to kids in need!

Along our journey, I'll be presenting grants, handing out gifts, and much needed equipment to kids who are sick, disadvantaged or have additional needs.

Donations from legends like you support the work for Variety - the Children's Charity year round, to assist kids who might otherwise go without the vital help they need.

Please help me, Heidi and The Bandits round up some much needed 'Moo-lah' for kids in need.

Like a spot on-board with us?

As much as we'd love to take more people in the car, and experience this adventure with us, all seats are taken. However, we've, come up with a clever way for you to join us on the Bash and help us reach our minimum $5000 fundraising goal requirement.

We’re selling off Heidi’s spots, allowing you to leave your mark on her and come with us all the way to Darwin.

Anyone who donates a significant amount can have their name or businesses logo on the car.

Email scott@scottdoesthat for all the details and I'll send you out a 'Cow Spot Pack'.

Spot Check for Heidi

Sunday 27th Jul
We passed! The all important mechanical review of our Bash Car couldn't have gone better. Heidi (and all her spots) got her approval to enter the Bash and carry her Bandits off on an adventure.

Chief Engineers and Mechanics Lou and Paul did have some concerns, but were very relieved to see her pass with flying colours. Well done gents! What a relief.

A big shout out to VolksRepair in Airport West who did the look over. They do this for all bash cars located out our way! And the Variety volunteers who were cooking up a storm on the BBQ!

Meet Heidi the Bovine Bandit

Wednesday 9th Jul
Almost every Variety Bash entry runs with a theme. It's an integral part of the fun and the adventure.

When I asked Paul (our team captain) about the 1978 ZH Ford Fairline 500 we was rebuilding to run in the bash, I asked if the car had a name. Heidi was his response. "What a great name for a car, and cow", I said.

So when the time came to find a theme for his bash car, the seed was already sown. From there the idea to take Heidi's expansive white panel work and black soft top and give her a set of cow spots and horns began. It wasn't long before we become "Heidi and the Bovine Bandits". (AKA Josie and the Pussy Cats). No doubt we'll play a bit of 'Cows with Guns' through the speakers!

There's still a little bit more themeing to go, but this concept photo will definitely get recreated somewhere along the road.

Oh, and on this bandit thing. We're not going to head out across Australia and rustle any cows, more likely just a couple of full cream chocolate milks, but with a car disguised as a cow and us dressed in cow suits with sets of six shooters on our hips, I think we might have a good chance to hide an a-grade milker in the back seat. No one would notice the extra passenger?!?!

Helping Heidi with her spots!

Tuesday 8th Jul
Those who know me, know I'm not a car mechanic. I'm handy, but more when it come to the detailing, not so much with the nuts and bolts. So my job on this trip is to make our bash car look good, and ensure 'Heidi' looks the part as she trots across the outback.

For the past two months I've been working on giving Heidi her spots, and bringing to life our 'cowboy' theme. (All bash cars rollout a theme). Last week saw me playing Tetris with cow spots. I heap of fun. So much so, I think I'm ready to assist a Supercars team next year with some similar work!

In the coming weeks I'll share the finished pattern on our new Bovine Bandit Heidi. Reach out if you want to own one of the cow spots and have your name or logo on it.

I'm just hoping these spots don't fall off along the way – I've been told the road can get a little bumpy!

She's Alive!

Tuesday 8th Jul
It was a weekend that franked a lot of hard work a dedication from Paul and Lou (my bash mates) and their team of great friends as we finally turned the key and brought Heidi to life.

And what a sweet sound it was. To say that I had my heart in my mouth would be an understatement. However the smiles that followed, after Heidi roared to life, where something to marvel at (even if Heidi had other ideas about her engine being put back to rest).

This marks a big milestone for out big V8 motor and car, who after some further running in, now looks primed and ready for our trip to Darwin, albeit a road test still to come.
