In October 2021 – Car11 Apollo 11 will be making the trek from Melbourne to Great Keppel Island – the long way – via Birdsville.
After our epic, award winning, 2019 journey from Melbourne to Geraldton WA (5100km), we are eager to again participate in raising funds for Variety -The Children’s Charity, supporting disadvantage Aussie kids. Please note, all money raised goes directly to Variety and is tax-deductible. We will be joining other Variety Bash crews in what we hope to be a life changing experience for the towns we visit, the children and ourselves.
In 2021 our team has expanded with two Bash rookies – Peter McDonald and Paul Menzies. They are joining Car 11 Apollo 11 [Michael Belcher, Glen Burgin and Shane Jenkins] as key NASA Apollo Support.
To ensure a successful and safe return from space we have also engaged the NASA Mission Control team of Dave Glenister and Steve Salathiel, in Car 4321. They are back to tackle another Bash with us.
We could not achieve our fundraising targets without the incredible generosity from our supporters and sponsor networks.
A huge shout-out to inaugural sponsors:
Shane Cook Homes
J&P Wittick Motors
Ballarat Kwik Kopy
Dennis Gyomber Urology
Finanalyze Financial Planning
These sponsors’ support over the years has been integral to our and Variety's mission “To empower Australian children who are sick, disadvantaged or have special needs, to live, laugh and learn.” We encourage other businesses and individuals to also engage in support of disadvantaged Aussie kids.
This year Car 11 – Apollo 11 is hoping to raise at least $10,000.
A message from Variety:
In 2019, the Variety Bash raised a record $1.8M, which we hope to break again in 2021. We can only do this with your support. It is truly appreciated.
The Variety Bash is a once in a lifetime chance to experience remote and regional parts of Australia in outrageously themed classic cars (eg our 1988 Mercedes 300SEL), all in support of Variety – the Children’s Charity.
Throughout the event, we’ll be visiting local towns, stopping into schools and organisations to help kids who are sick, disadvantaged or have special needs through the provision of educational, health and mobility equipment. And the giving doesn’t stop there! Variety continue to support children, families and communities throughout the year with funds raised from the Variety Bash.
Help us give Aussie kids a fair go – please donate today!
Goal! Ten donations received for kids in need!
$500 will supply an iPad for a non-verbal child
$1,000 will supply a specialised trampoline for children with sensory needs
$3,000 buys a portable scooter for a child with limited mobility
Oh wow $10,000 for kids in need. You are champs!!
Variety Vic Bash - Postponed until October 19th - 28th 2021.Tuesday 10th Aug
Dear Bash Family,
It is with a heavy heart that we advise that the 2021 Variety Vic Bash cannot go ahead as planned. Therefore,
The 2021 Variety Vic Bash from Melbourne to Great Keppel Island is postponed.
We really hoped we would never have to make this announcement. Our staff and Bash Support Committee have been working tirelessly over the last two years to do everything they can to bring this Bash to life. Unfortunately, timing was not on our side. With the current restrictions on interstate border movements and density limits in venues, we have had to make the difficult decision to postpone the 2021 Variety Bash.
But we have dates to run the event in October 2021!
As you can imagine, we are still keen to run a Bash in 2021. We have been in touch with our on route suppliers and vendors, to determine availability and can propose a couple of options for the event to go ahead. We've now settled on October 19th - 28th 2021.

Following the recent Federal and State Government announcements, the decision has been made to postpone the 2020 Variety Victoria Bash in August 2020 to August 2021. The route, stops, final destination and duration will remain the same.
We would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank everyone who has contributed to the planning and development of the 2020 Variety Bash and are delighted that all the hard work and generosity of spirit will come to fruition, just 12 months later in the 2021 Variety Bash (11-20 August 2021).

The Variety Motoring Team have been working hard with the local community to work out the ways in which we can help and provide support in the medium to long term.
Our donations to fire affected areas were presented on Saturday to Bruthen Primary School and on Sunday to Mallacoota P-12 College. Donations consisted of laptops, sports equipment, bikes, books and games.
Thank you all for your generous support. Variety quickly raised over $11,000, to purchase these laptops, along with receiving other donations from our wider support community.
Team Car 11 Apollo 11 witnessed some of the aftermath of the East Gippsland fires. For hundreds of Kms, work continues today on the cleanup, all the way down to Mallacoota and beyond. Glad we were able to help in some way.
Thanks again for all your support.
