Variety Sunshine Coaches play a vital role in Variety - the Children's Charity's mission to support children with physical disabilities, regional limitations, or social disadvantages. In a recent CYDA survey, it was reported that 70% of children with a disability are excluded from events and activities.
Variety coaches provide much-needed transport to allow children to connect with their communities, engage in programs, and enjoy various activities that they might not have access to otherwise. What’s even more remarkable is that these coaches can be equipped with wheelchair modifications, ensuring that all children can participate in excursions and extra-curricular activities together, promoting inclusivity and creating memorable experiences.

Each coach costs between $80,000 - $180,000. You can help us fund a brand new coach for a school on our waiting list today!
PROFOUND NEED
Variety Sunshine Coach program provides accessible mini-buses and coaches to schools for children living with disability, illness or social disadvantage in Melbourne and Regional Victoria. Some statistics demonstrate the current need:
- 57% of students with disabilities have difficulty accessing transportation to school (Australian Human Rights Commission 2019)
- Only 67% of students with a disability in Victoria attended school full-time, compared to 93% of students without a disability (Department of Education and Training 2020)
- 27% of regional and rural students miss school due to transportation issues - distance or lack of public transport options (Department of Education and Training 2018)
