Right now, Variety kids living in disadvantaged families are missing out on essential food and utilities. Many are without devices or internet access, creating further social isolation and loss of educational support, impacting future engagement at school and mental wellbeing. Variety surveyed the families they help to learn how the crisis is affecting them.

Here’s just one mother’s desperate story:

“The damage that could be done now to my son’s education and care as a severe non-verbal autistic child may be the difference between him ever talking or being independent. This is more serious than losing a job or house even - we could lose him down a rabbit hole forever without the daily care and intervention required. After years and years of work and sacrifice it could all have been for nothing.“

With these families already in crisis, Variety urgently need your support.

Variety responds to gaps and needs. Right now they need your help to provide iPads, laptops and educational equipment to meet these urgent essentials. They are also delivering educational toys and games to make lock down bearable, keep children engaged and to simply bring a little joy into their world.

Where will the money go?

Variety – the Children’s Charity believe all kids deserve a fair go. So they help kids who are sick, disadvantaged and have special needs by delivering support in the following ways.

Variety grant a range of equipment – such as wheelchairs or all-abilities playgrounds - to provide practical help to kids, schools and organisations in need. They run programs to educate & empower kids in need. They give scholarships to encourage the talents of kids living with disadvantage or disability.

Since the COVID19 crisis emerged, school closures and safety concerns are forcing children to home school. 

Variety will be providing iPads ($429 each) and laptops ($762 each) to kids in crisis to secure their future education, thanks to your support.
