How Variety Helps

Variety – the Children’s Charity supports Victorian kids aged 0-17 who are living with illness, disability or experiencing disadvantage through grants, scholarships, programs and events. Our vision is for all children to attain their full potential, regardless of ability or background.

Our work allows children to gain mobility and freedom, to get out and about in the community, to communicate, achieve independence and increase self-esteem, and where possible, to help them integrate into mainstream school and activities.

Meet Seth & Teagan

Twins Seth and Teagan have both been diagnosed with autism and other intellectual disabilities. They live with their mum, Tanya, and big brother, Jordan.

Variety granted a bike to Seth through our Bikes for Kids program, as well as an iPad which has helped to improve his language and writing skills.

As part of our Variety family, Seth and Teagan are invited to our free kids’ events, where we give children and their families the opportunity to let their hair down and enjoy a day out in an inclusive environment.

“To be able to go to [the Variety Kids’ Christmas Party], and not be constantly feeling like I had to apologise for them, or feeling like I had to explain every few seconds…that was fantastic day. They had an awesome day… they were involved, they wanted to do things rather than me prompting them to do things.”
