What difference can I make donating for my birthday?
A really big difference! Thanks to the support of legends like you, last year alone, Variety – the Children’s Charity provided $1,762,450 in grants in Victoria impacting 8,769 local children. Can I fundraise on Facebook and on this page?
Yes! You can start a gstandalone Facebook fundraiser by clicking the blur button.
If you would like an online page as well as a Facebook page, click the red button "Start a Page Here" and select create a Facebook fundraising page during your sign up process. All donations through Facebook and your Variety fundraising page will be synced!
How does being a B’day Legend work?
Set up an online fundraising page here. It’s quick and easy, we promise. Once you’re set up let your closest friends and family know what you’re up to and ask them to make the first donations before sharing it far and wide!If you’d like to throw a party too - download your printables which include invites, bunting and other party decorations! Plus we’ll send you out a pack with some extra goodies too. If you’re creating a page on behalf of your child, make sure you use your details (including date of birth) when setting up the page.
Why use an online fundraising page, can’t my friends and family give me cash?
When your friends and family donate through your fundraising page Variety receives the money automatically, and they receive their tax-deductible receipt straight away. If they prefer to give cash, you can make a payment of the same amount to your online fundraising page using your credit or debit card. If it’s a large amount of money that you’ve raised in cash, send us an email or give us a call about other options.
I've never fundraised before, how do I start?
There are lots of ways to fundraise – and something to suit everybody, even if it’s your first time! You could start small by setting up a fundraising page and only share it with close family and friends, or you may want to go a bit bigger and share it will all your friends on social media.

What party supplies will you provide?
We’ve done all the hard work for you - all you have to do is hit print! Download the invitations, thank you cards and heaps more here.
If you’d like to add a bit more oomph to your party - email us at fundraise@varietyvic.org.au and we’ll send you some balloons, stickers and a donation box.
I’m not the party-type, can I skip the party?
Absolutely! You can choose to fundraise only through your online fundraising page (which you can set up here if you haven’t yet).
Where will the money go?
Variety – the Children’s Charity believe all kids deserve a fair go. So we help kids who are sick, disadvantaged and have special needs by delivering support in four key ways.
We grant a range of equipment – such as wheelchairs or all-abilities playgrounds - to provide practical help to kids, schools and organisations in need. We run programs to educate & empower kids in need. We give scholarships to encourage the talents of kids living with disadvantage or disability. We hold special events to bring joy & engage kids in need and their families.
